Life sends us many lessons. Lessons on love, pain, the nature of suffering, joy, the contentment of old friendship, the comfort of a dog's presence, the sting of betrayal, false hope, faith, despair. Every experience is teaching us, training us for what comes next.
It is so very easy in the midst of the minutiae of daily life; some wonderful, some boring, some so painful you can't see how you'll make it to your next breath, to get deadened to the truth that everything, EVERYTHING is in some way for our good. Pain can teach us compassion, loss can help us learn how to comfort others, victories help us realize our own potential and at the same time awaken humility because we know we had help in achieving it.
More and more, I am trying to live in a space of faith, hope, and gratitude for every moment, striving to accept that, in some way, this moment, every moment is a celebration.
