On February 21, 2016, Salon deZEN hosted it's very first airbrush class intended to showcase and instruct our clients on the application of airbrush makeup.
The event started with a small buffet of brunch type foods: strawberries, blueberries, chocolate rugelach (a type of crescent shaped pastry which you can read more about here on Wiki), a delicious berry rugelach (raspberry?), sausage and spinach quiches, bananas, and tiny, easily peeled mandarin oranges. There were unlimited mimosas - champagne and orange juice. And of course our usual offerings of unlimited coffee, lattes, and a selection of teas ( black tea, green tea, and herbal teas, also called tissanes).
Our ladies started off the afternoon affair with their reasons for why they chose airbrush makeup for their makeup skill.
Salon founder, Maria, formerly a model, went with airbrush makeup because she didn't like the cake-y makeup many makeup artists were applying on her at photoshoots - she was suffering from breakouts!
Sarah, our veteran wedding makeup artist, loves the ease of application and the staying power airbrush makeup holds.
Our "accidental makeup artist" is Nina. Sarah recommended that Nina use airbrush makeup to help cover up her reddened skin as airbrush makeup is non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic, perfect for sensitive skin. She was sold on Sarah's recommendation. Nina saw results instantly and her long-term clients saw it too! In 2015, less than a year after switching to airbrush makeup, Nina took her certification class so she could offer the airbrush makeup service to her clients.
As a start off demonstration fresh-faced Maria had Sarah apply airbrush makeup. Sarah also applied makeup to deZEN's coordinator; she rocked pink eyebrows to match her pink streaked hair to show off airbrush makeup's versatility (that pink is usually a blush or lip color).
Our six attendees then received makeup applications with instruction going on from our three makeup artists, questions answered as they went along.
Video went up on Periscope (stay tuned for link).
After makeup applications and before our gorgeous after photos, junior stylists Olivia and Hanh Ly offered to curl or blowout the hair of any of our attendees. Wow! So much love from our ladies, making sure everyone felt their very best!
Altogether, it was an incredibly fun and productive class! We can't wait to host our second one (coming summer 2016)!
